  • Tear troughs / under-eye is one of the most difficult areas to treat. The skin is very fine and the muscles around the area move a lot. Under eye filler can be at risk of swelling, lumps or bluish discolouration (Tindall Effect). Our injectors are highly experienced in this treatment & use the a type of filler specifically designed for the tear trough in order to minimise these risks. Bruising and temporary swelling is the most common side effect for under eye treatment. Bruising may happen in 1 in 5 cases and is usually a pinpoint bruise at the outer corner of the eye. Swelling is usually mild and will settle after 2-5 days – during this period it can look like you have had a lack of sleep. Infection is possible but extremely rare & treatable. Vascular occlusion is the most serious complications but is extremely rare (less than 100,000 to 1). We have the expertise & equipment on-hand to dissolve vascular occlusions. Dr Joshua is always available to discuss or treat any side-effects. We strongly advise attending the 6 week follow-up appointment to ensure we get the best results without side effects.

  • Individual results & longevity of treatments will vary a lot form person to person. This is due to our unique anatomy and physiology. Under eye treatments are the longest lasting of any area and can last from 1 to 3 years, sometimes longer.

  • Tear trough treatments require a very thin filler that draws very little water. We use a premium brand of product – the only one approved specifically for tear troughs. It is thin, reversible, highly cross-linked and easy to mold.

  • Yes, for some cases. As Under eye treatment is complex, we prefer to book you for a time that will allow plenty of time without rushing the procedure. This ensures best results.

  • Even in the most experienced hands, tear troughs may form lumps or cause swelling. If this should happen to you, just book in a complimentary review. We will fix this at no charge, along with any adjustments needed. If your treatment is from another clinic we offer dissolving from $180.

  • You can get straight back to work or fun straight after under eye treatments. The under eye area will feel tender for a few days and look swollen like you have had a big night out. You may have a small bruise on the cheek under the eyes which may last from a few days to about a week. Ice packs, Arnica and concealer can be used to reduce the symptoms.
